PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

On behalf of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, I am proud to present our 2007 Stewardship Progress Report.

Our growing industry affects more and more Canadians, and they have ever-greater expectations for corporate responsibility. As an industry, we are committed to meeting those expectations.

Our annual Stewardship report documents the industry's drive to achieve measurable improvement in a number of benchmarking criteria that demonstrate performance on environmental, safety and social issues.

But while our stakeholders may be asking for greater performance from the oil and gas industry, we are also demanding more of ourselves. A foundation of our members' commitment to Stewardship is a dedication to continuous improvement. We see evidence of this dedication in the positive and ongoing progress achieved against a number of our benchmarking indicators.

We have success stories and we're proud of them. We also have challenges and we acknowledge those too. We'll continue our efforts to improve in Stewardship because our stakeholders demand it. And we demand a lot of ourselves. Because we've never forgotten that trust, respect, and our license to operate are earned.

This is a very large and dynamic industry, and it comes with complex issues. Finding solutions to those issues takes determination, innovation, and the courage to face challenges head on-attributes the men and women of the oil and gas industry possess in abundance.
